SATURDAY

The forbidden route. The private fincas S'Arrom, Es Cornadors and the Biniaraix gorge

We take the minibus to Sóller for a short time. Our circular hike begins with a path through the shady holm oak forest and past old terraced gardens. After a good hour's ascent via a serpentine cart path, we reach the exclusive Finca S'Arrom. Walking through this finca area is only limited or allowed with our mountain guides. We continue up here until after an hour we reach the karst mountain peak of Cornadors (955 m) just over the tree line. On a clear day we have a special view of the Biniaraix gorge, the Sóller valley and the Puig Major massif. A stony path then leads us downhill into the lonely valley of the mountain l'Ofre. This is followed by a strenuous descent over an old cobblestone path into the gigantic Biniaraix gorge.

Our late, local picnic takes place at a rustic mountain hut in a rustic olive grove. A long stairway, which winds between steep walls and terraced fields, leads us down to the mountain village of Biniaraix. We walk through lemon plantations to the city of Sóller. The return trip to the port in Port de Sóller is done in style with the nostalgic tram.
