Artistic enjoyment on the rocky traces of
the past – the unknown Valldemossa
Our minibus takes us to the starting point, located between the artists' village of Deià and the romantic mountain village of Valldemossa. We first hike along a private footpath, past a dramatic rock garden. Our route continues along an old coastal guard path with unique views of the harbour of Port de Valldemossa, Michael Douglas' famous finca and the bizarre cliffs. We then walk past Mallorca's last inhabited hermitage. This is followed by a steep climb through an enchanted holm oak forest across private land. Finally, we reach the famous and imposing Teix mountain range with the Talaia Vella peak (870 m). We find ourselves on Europe's first landscaped panoramic trail, the romantic riding trail of Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Habsburg Austria.
In this idyllic setting, we enjoy our local picnic with magnificent views of the bay of Palma and the rugged north coast.
Well fortified, we hike downhill along scree paths and old cart tracks through a mixed forest to the picturesque mountain village of Valldemossa. After a coffee break, we finally drive back to the port of Port de Sóller.
